had a good time

at my mom's birthday party that was on the fourth of july. i didn't expect it to turn out so well, but it really did. so many people from work showed up and for once our family came out to have a good time. that's what bothers me sometimes; our family, at least on my mom's side, never gets together to see how one another is doing or what's happening in eachother's lives. true, some of them came to my graduation, but ask me have i seen them since then. okay. and my answer is NO. i don't know why that bothers me, but it does sometimes. life's too short not to communicate with family. so many people don't have a family, and for some reason i keep thinking about when my step-dad died. all of those years i spent hating him, and the last two or three years after we found out he had cancer was when i really got to know him. quite naturally i'm looking forward to the next event, which will probably be my friend's birthday. gonna try to get her drunk. lol. i doubt it will work, but i'm sure we'll have a good time.
